Training

All leaders are required to be trained in their role.  The BSA offers online training through their website https://myscouting.scouting.org.  Each leader must complete their Youth Protection Training annually, as well as a one-time completion of the This is Scouting course and their leader position specific training (i.e. if you are a Bear den leader then you must complete the course titled Leader Position-Specific-Bear Cub).

Because the BSA requires that every leader be registered, the pack pays for each leader's registration fees upon our recharter every February.

Leader Uniform

Den leaders, Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, and Committee Chair are positions that require your to wear a uniform.  All other leadership and committee positions are encouraged to invest in a uniform, but are not required to.  Leaders should wear their uniforms whenever participating in Scouting events. A Leader Uniform consists of a Leader Shirt, typically short sleeved, with all required patches (World Crest, Unit Numerals 311, and Denver Area Council patch).  The neckerchief and glide are completely optional for leaders. These can be purchased at the Scout Shop as well.

Leader Resources

The pack will supply a leader guide for each den.  These guides compliment the boy's handbooks to make it as easy as possible to follow the program.  There are many online resources available to you as well.

We are officially adopting the new Cub Scout Program, so if you are not familiar with the changes, please contact the Committee Chair for more details.

Committee Meetings and Roundtable

As a leader, we ask that you attend our monthly committee meetings whenever possible.  They are typically held the second Wednesday of each month at one of our leader's homes.  These meetings allow us to discuss and plan upcoming events, answer any questions, and to make general decisions about the pack, as well as go over our financials each month.

Roundtable happens the first Tuesday of every month at the LDS church located at 3501 Summit Grove Parkway, Thornton 80241.  The Roundtable is put on by the Valley District Council and is your chance as a parent, leader, or new volunteer to come and find out what is going on in our Scouting District and Council.
